Mr. Harman is proud to be the band director at Hughesville Junior/Senior High School. He looking forward to continuing the Traditions of Excellence established by the former band directors.
Mr. Harman previously taught in the Allentown City School District, where he most recently taught beginning band to fourth and fifth grade students. He also served as Assistant Band Director at Louis E. Dieruff High School. His primary responsibility was to improve the visual effect of the ensemble, which he did by teaching many of the techniques he learned during his marching tours.
Mr. Harman brings a wealth of musical knowledge to Hughesville. He graduated from West Chester University in West Chester, PA, in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Music Eduction and a minor in German language. In 2013, he earned his Master's of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL. He has performed with the Crossmen (2006), Bluecoats (2008), and the Reading Buccaneers (2010), as well as four years in the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band at West Chester University. Mr. Harman has taught with the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps (DCA, Princeton, NJ) and Starriders Drum and Bugle Corps (DCE, Bad Münder, Germany). Outside of marching band, Mr. Harman has performed across the country as a soloist, frequently in churches. His talents extend to the vocal world as well. Mr. Harman is a strong singer once qualifying as third chair in District X choir (2004).
Outside of school, Mr. Harman is an avid runner, completing the 2011 Philadelphia Marathon in 3:46:07 as well as multiple half marathons. He currently resides in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
