Physical Education meets four times a week on the following days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On the first day of class, the students will receive the Physical Education department's "Course Guidelines and Grading Policy" handout. Your child will be bringing the course guideline handout home and he/she should go over it with you. Please remember: In order for your child to receive credit for Physical Education class, he/she MUST change into their Physical Education clothes for class. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
**Important Note Regarding Physical Education Grades 7th and 8th**
During the fall season, Physical Education classes will be going outside as much as possible. PLEASE make sure your son/daughter is prepared for class. They should have a change of clothes for outside class.
We, the Physical Education Department, highly recommend that every student brings a lock with them to Physical Education class to put on their gym locker. The Physical Education Department/East Lycoming School District does not provide locks for on the lockers in the locker rooms and are not held responsible for any personal items that go missing.
Students must participate to the best of their ability during class. If a student changes for class but participates on a minimal level, he/she will not receive credit for the class.
If a student cannot participate in class due to an illness/injury, the student will need to provide a note from their parents/guardians/doctor/trainer.
Grading Policy: The following situations are considered "Infractions" towards the student's Physical Education grade:
* Not being dressed appropriately for class
* Not participating to the best of their ability
* Illegal absence: No legal blue slip/Cutting class
Every student must make sure they do not miss more than three Physical Education classes per marking period. Missing more than three classes may result in failure for the marking period. Failing two marking periods may result in a failure for the year. Physical Education is a required course for graduation by PA State Standards/Laws.
If you do not dress appropriately and/or participate to the best of your ability for Physical Education class and/or you have an illegal absence, the consequences will be:
First Offense: Verbal Warning
Second Offense: 10 points deducted from your grade and your parents and/or guardians will be contacted.
Third Offense: 10 points deducted from your grade and your parents and/or guardians will be contacted.
Fourth Offense: 10 points deducted from your grade and your parents and/or guardians will be contacted.
** The grading policy, related to the offenses, will be re-evaluated at the beginning of every marking period. **
7th And 8th Health Classes: Meets once a week on Wednesdays. On the first day of class, the students will receive the "Course Guidelines/Syllabus and Grading Policy" handouts. Most of the work/assignments for the class will be done in the classroom. However, homework may be assigned.
Your child will be bringing the Health Syllabus home and sharing it with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Important Note Regarding Health Class Materials:
Students in my Health classes will need a folder (just for Health class), a one-subject notebook (just for Health class) and writing utensils.

Thank-you for taking the time to read my web page. I am really excited about the new school year. One of my personal goals is to make sure everyone of my students enjoys their Physical Education/Health classes and goes home eager to share with their loved ones how much fun they had in class. I hope your son/daughter has a great year.
