About the Hughesville High School Band Program:
In the Hughesville High School Band Department, we pride ourselves in offering large opportunities in a small school environment. The Hughesville Band Program is made up of multiple performing ensembles. We offer 7-12 concert band, 7-12 marching band, two jazz ensembles, color guard (also winter stage) and various small ensembles. Small ensembles have included Brass Choir, Saxophone Quartet, Clarinet Choir, Flute Choir and Percussion Ensemble. Students are assigned at least one 50 minute lesson a week and band class which meets every day for 50 minutes. Band class is combined, Junior High and Senior High together. All grade levels perform together as one. Extra opportunities for instruction are available to those students who audition for PMEA festivals or are in a small ensemble. All bands, including jazz band, are open to all students from grades 7-12. All ensembles are available for public performance. Performances can be scheduled by contacting Mr. Mark Boyer, Director of Bands, at the contact information provided at the bottom of this page. We request at least one month notice for scheduling performances, especially for the concert and marching bands.
