The No child left behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) has revolutionized the way that states and school systems operate. The state must create standards for achievement in reading, math and eventually science. Students, school districts, schools and the state will be evaluated to determine progress towards academic standards. Evaluation will be measured by state approved standardized tests aligned to the academic standards administered to three groups, grades 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12. A public report on state and school district progress (individual schools will be on the district report) in the form of a report card will be made available. Please keep in mind that this is a very brief overview of NCLB. Additional information on the NCLB report cards or NCLB in general can be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
